206 Cargo Hook Kit 3yr Overhaul

Just looking through the 206 Maint Man.

In The Bell Overhaul Schedual it tells you to overhaul the Cargo Hook (Kit) every three years.

It gives you the part number of the WHOLE Kit as the part requiring the 3 year overhaul. In talking around, I know that everyone overhauls the hook or as bell puts it the "Relase Mechanism". Technically this is only one part of the whole kit.

It got me wondering, How deep do you go? Do you NDT the U shaped frame(some people do, to the BHT MPM) Definitly not as clear cut as other component overhauls.

Any input or discussion would be great.

It is cheaper to get a new Onboard Cargo hook than to overhaul a Breeze Eastern cargo hook which is the norm on a Bell 206 and Onboard has changed their overhaul from 3 years to 5 year. They will also let you overhaul it yourself, but the catch is that you have to load test it after overhaul which most cannot do. Onboard will overhaul cheaper and will turn it around quite quickly and will exchange if that is what you would like. We removed all our Breeze Eastern,s and junked them or made them into longline hooks.
