Gps Which One Is Best?

Use Garmin 196, but I'm seeing 295, 296, Airmap 1000, 2000. In reality, which one do you find easiest and most trouble free, and why?

Most guys love Garmin 296, and the 396 and 496 have satillite radio built in.

It's not nearly as fancy as the 196 or 296 but my Garmin 3+ still works great and hasn't let me down yet. Very easy to use as well! I don't think you can buy them anymore though.

Rainman maybe you should ask for a raise!!!!! Or at least get to fly JTH or one of the other machines that has one installed already.

I totally agree, assuming they are easily workable and serviceable. I've jumped into some machines for 3 weeks and the GPS was hooped the whole time. On fires, that would spell disaster would it not ? As for workability, one might argue that there is a manual for it. Sure, if it's in the A/C! If not you're sometimes left with a 212, or whatever on a fire with a GPS that's harder than a 747 cockpit to figure out that may or may not work.

 

I love my Garmin 3 plus, it goes wherever my helmet goes, and it's paid for!
