helinomad
While 'most everybody is plowing snow out from in front of their hangar doors, I want to report that the Puerto Rico-to-St. Thomas axis is snow-free, sunny, and balmy. This weekend I got 14 hours of R44 time taking around 3000 photos of hundreds of boats (and there were more in sight we just couldn't get to before they pulled in to one of the innumerable beaches and anchored). So many boats, so little time. (Part of the problem is that pesky doors-off 100kt speed limit on the R44!) I think it got below 80 degrees early on one of the mornings, but that went away when the sun got partly up. But fear not for our morals. Public nudity is illegal everywhere in Puerto Rico. (Were those bikini-less babes "in public" if they were doing 30 knots across the wave tops in the middle of the bay? Interesting legal angle. Perhaps I'll have an attorney timebuilder along on some future flight and get a professional opinion.) It wasn't quite free, but this only cost my timebuilder-copilot (30 hrs TT) $299/hr plus fuel. (A Kansas-area refugee for the weekend--reminiscent of Dorothy and Toto. I fear the back-home folks, tired from shoveling snow, are going to have to listen to him complain about the PR experience for weeks on end.)
