had read this many years ago and thought it was cool... something to read and maybe relate to/laugh/shake your head at/or just groan!!! :D

'low flight-dedicated to all helicopter drivers'

oh, i have slipped the surly bonds of earth

and hovered out of ground effect on semi-rigid blades;

earthward i've auto'd and met the rising brush of

non-paved terrain;

and done a thousand things you would never care to

skidded and dropped and flared

low in the heat soaked roar.

confined there, i've chased the earthbound traffic

and lost the race to insignificant

headwinds;

forward and up a little in ground effect

i've topped the ridge with drooping turns

where never cf-18 or even twotter flew.

shaking and pulling collective, i've lumbered

the low untrespassed halls of victor airways,

put out my hand and touched a tree.

and yes, i changed a couple of words to make it more canadian!! :P

From a dude flying Sea Kings:

Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of the flightdeck

And hovered in salt spray and out of ground effect on semi-rigid blades;

Earthward I've auto'd and met the rising brush of cresting waves;

And done a hundred things you would never care to -

Dipped and dropped and flared

Low in the head soaked roar,

Pitching deck there, low Nr here,

I've chased the survace vessels

And lost the race to insignificant headwinds;

Forward and up a little in ground effect,

matching torques;

I've topped the Admiral’s bridge

with drooping turns

Where never VOODOO or even SABRE flew,

Shaking and pulling collective,lumbering ASE off into the low un-trespassed

halls of night dipping,

Put out my hand and touched….

a wave!

Holy crap, FULL POWER BOTH!
