happyfeet
Anyone Just had a generator failure in a BA , but it didn't register on the warning pannel, in addition lost an apprenticeThe engineer spotted the thing smoking on the ground. So what gives aren't the pimary systems on the essential bus, The enginer here doesn't seem to think so. No recycle switch on the geny! Old BA!!! Help~!!! happyfeet
Just wanted to add, lost the fuel pressure guage, oil preasure guage, rotor tac, voltage meter ( bat). And complete failure of the warning pannel. What gives.??? HF
helidude
When the generator fails on any Astar, the gen light comes on and the voltmeter drops to battery voltage. Did the light not come on?
happyfeet
There was no light!!! I posted the detail but guess the admin hasn't approved the post yet . I am on a Don Cherry Delay!! My guess was that the batter voltage was so low as it is on the main buss, there was an almost total electrical failure. The book said 50 minutes of flight on bat?? but not even the rotor tac was working. Was hunting like crazy. Glad I got it back on the ground!! ?????????? Guest SidewallPuncture
sure it was in total failure? smoking could be a sign of its impending failure, but hasn't quite reached that point yet and it's still generating.....which would explain no indications in the cockpit. Or, your warning indication system is broken.....
helidude
Just thinking out loud here but I think the only way to loose all electrics in flight would be for the Battery and Generator to both go off line, meaning both relays failing. Never seen that before but there's a first time for everything. Unless you turn the battery and generator switch off........
happyfeet
Heli dude That is exactly what happened. The generator had been failing on and off problems with stator, and then the battery just died. The volt meter was questionable too so it was giving wierd readings and wandering. Nice eh! widgeon
Losing a generator is bad , but losing an apprentice , unforgiveable , Did you check in the tail boom ?.

I am on a Don Cherry Delay!! Kyle needs to fix that or at least add a retarded disclaimer that he's withholding your posts and the delay may make other peoples posts look even more retarded than they really are because everything is out of sequence. Bad Kyle.....get more moderators to approve the posts so the posts make it on in a timely matter.
