What does it take to convert a BII to a BIII? Assume the engine is a 250-c20b already. Tnx in advance.

It's not just the engine.

 

Different:

 

Rotor head

Transmission

Tail rotor

Tail rotor gearbox

Oil cooler blower

Composite deck for oil cooler

Larger diameter oil lines

Servo support

Nr gauge

Torque gauge

Segmented t/r driveshafting.

 

You will need approvals from Bell to convert.

If you look at 206-SI-112 it gives instructions on install of the C20B engine and it requires the BIII flight manual, I think this is the closest you will get to a BIII economically

Doesn't Bell SI 206-112 cover the whole deal? You then have a Bell 206B with SI 206-112 incorporated. I don't think you have to go to Bell for any additional approval, as long as you comply with the SI. The 206Blll Flight Manual is then in effect.

I was answering from home so I didn't know the document number.

So yes, this Service Instruction is the only approval you need from Bell.

 

But you still have to fill out a 'major modification' form from Transport.
