West Coast fishing trip

Recommended Posts

We are headed out from Calgary to Eagle Nook Lodge, south of Tofino for some fishing with clients.  We will stop in Vernon for fuel, and have lunch at the Sparkling Hill Resort in Vernon.  I'm looking for some ideas to 'over-night' on the coast somewhere.  Maybe a helicopter friendly hotel, or just an interesting place to stay for some scenery, good food and a couple beers.  We don't check in to Eagle's Nook until noon the following day.  Gibsons, Seashelt, Nanaimo, Port Alberni, Qualicum Beach are all on the flight path.  With the hot weather, we have plenty of time that day.  I've always wanted to take in the Pitt Hot springs as well, although I was told that landing on the bridge isn't good right now.  I've watched many videos of the locals getting great shots with their helicopters here.  If you have any great ideas to keep my troops entertained, I'm listening!  Thanks a lot guys!

I'm probably way too late here, but I would suggest Dent Island Lodge. They have a helipad on the water and will let you land on the dock. Great restaurant with a deck for drinks and rooms to stay overnight. It's on the high end of the price range but I think it's worth it.

The guys got a 407 for fun. I’m sure the $40 crab bisque isn’t going to be the deciding factor.

Thanks a bunch.  It sure looks like a great stop!
