Helicopter Down In Victoria

Heard there was a helicopter accident at Victoria airport with 2 injured. Hope they are ok.

i just saw that too on ctv, they are saying it was a student and instructor from a "local college". hope everyone is well.

No news yet, 2 seriously injured during an auto rotation exercise, both passengers were trapped inside, the Coast Helicopter College R22 is pretty crushed.

The instructor walked away. The students injuries more serious than they had previously thought. But are apparently not life threatening.

 

My best thoughts are with all involved.

I'm not sure if I can get that information to you. I'm waiting for a call, and will let you know either way.

A reliable source told me that initially it was thought that the student was more injured than the instructor. Because the instructor walked out of it. The instructor, however, has apparently sustained some small fractures to his spine. Both are expected to be released from hospital by tomorrow at the latest. & it is possible that the student has already been released.

 

They were fortunate to land in mud. They hit quite hard, but the landing gear and mud helped absorb the impact.

 

I'm not comfortable giving hospital information on line.
