widgeon
I read it this morning , did it say the money will protect 600 jobs at Mirabel and later there were 1,400 people employed there, would hate to be in one of the 800 unprotected jobs . "Jacques St-Laurent, president of Bell Helicopter Canada, said the arrangement with the governments "is a clear indication of the strength and importance of our aerospace industry - a true gem that must be safeguarded." Bell Helicopter's Mirabel plant employs about 1,400 people"" "From national post article linked on rotorhub

" <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I didnt hear anything about layoffs. What I get from the article is that if the factory was not upgraded there would be the need to let go 600 that might get protected with this investment, but I might be wrong... RDM
Ok........and those ***holes in Quebec and Ontario have the balls to cry foul when Newfoundland signs the Atlantic Acord. . What gives, you have aerospace/avaition somewhere in your company profile and happen to be set up in La Provine and the Feds throw money at you like your starving. In Europe the biggest makers of household appliances is ELECTROLUX from Sweden. In some article they were saying that in Hungary salaries are one tenth of those of Sweden and in the Far East the difference is even bigger. The government of Hungary promised to buy Swedish jet fighters if Electrolux would move the factories to their country... Just read the following article about the move of 10 factories to low salary countries... http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/4268689.stm http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/2584007.stm
Elvis
I wonder if the 2.7 billion $ for transport helicopters announced in todays budget is a coincidence. ( the article does not say how much of the 2.7B is for helicopters) http://www.canada.com/finance/rrsp/budget_...58-6e061b8a3ad3 :elvis:
cap
Maggie -----we're a Socialist country and government must be part of almost everything....good or bad.....you know that. Banks won't even get involved in a big project in this country unless they know some kind of government agency is backing some of the other loans involved.
