marc
As far as no social life that's just Bull Sh#* I'm a R/W AME that has a wife and kid and travel a fair bit and you just have to want to make it work the people that don't and blame aviation are just not into the whole home life..and will use any excuse for their problems. that's my two cents any of you that disagree any I know your out there feel free to trash away I agree, I am still young with no family yet, but From what I have seen I don't think divorce rates would be much higher than the average. It seems to me the guys that do have kids and have been married for a while have got it figured out: All that time away makes for better time with the family when you are there. you can get all the drinking and fun times with the guys when you are away so you can go home and be the good dad. but I could just be young and nieve....... Off topic a bit. No 1 rule for helicopter crews!! NEVER, EVER, show up at home early without making a warning phone call. eg. A good friend of mine several years ago showed up a week early (sail boat berthed at False Creek, Vancouver) only to find his "so called" best friend literally on top of his wife!! Funny thing was, is that we had discussed this very topic only a few months previously, and he told me later that the first thought that came to him was: Son of a bi-ch!, I should have listened to old ****. Needless to say, she was out on the street pretty quick. That's not the only instance I know of either. My thoughts are, if you "dally around" in the field, it's tit for tat, but my Buddy just adored his wife, and never "dallied around". The upside was, he got to keep the boat. :punk: :punk: :punk:

new guy
here is just a thought about tech schools, what i did is to call up some of the companies and talked to the DOM's about the schools that i had chosen. what i found out was that they were all good but one school seemed to deal more with helicopters and small fixed wing, and the otheres seemed to deal more with big fixed wing. so don't just talk to the schools, also talk to the people that are doing the hiring good luck
