Jesse,

As the others have said.... RUN AWAY!!!

From the looks of the letter it is going to cost YOU just over $10000.00 for them to train you so you can work for them for free. And if your one of the lucky ones  and fly 100 hours, you will make about $2500.00 minus deductions of course. That will put you at around $7500 in the hole for a summer of hard work. From the looks of the job description you will be putting in 14 or 15 hour days.

There are better ways to get your start. Good luck.

Cheers!

NG

This is pretty scary. I know a lot of companies exploit us LTs, but this is the first time I see such a blatant and overt example. You should send that letter to the appropriate authorities. Isn't there a supreme court ruling dating back to the sixties about paying to work, effectively becoming an indentured (sp) servant ?

This just blows me away !

As long as there's enough low-timers desperate enough to sign up with predators looking to exploit their desperation, they will continue to exist.

It's good advice to tell the low-timers to 'run away', but what's their alternatives? It's not like there's people banging down their doors looking to hire them.

There's only so many reputable companies willing to give a break to a new rookie.

It's a catch-22.

I just remember many years ago, when I was starting out, working for companies that abused us, treated us with disdain, and that was as an apprentice. At that point in my life, options were limited as to where I could go.

jesse -----you "volunteer" to go for a beer with someone, go to lunch with someone, get a coffee for the receptionist, pick-up the mail and help the engineer stand up that g.d. ladder that fell down so he doesn't have to jump back down off the top of the a/c......those are some of the types of things that you "volunteer' for. If you're willing to "work" for nothing, then that's exactly what you are worth........you be the judge....we don't know you.
